Anxious Adam

Adam, a five-year-old boy presented with fears such as being alone in the room when his parents are in a different part of the house, fear of shots, poor transitions, and oppositional behavior. Adam was taught HRV to learn self-calming techniques. He put his practice plan into action with the help of some stuffed animals thereby avoiding the need to always have his parents in the same room with him. Shortly after beginning biofeedback treatment his mother reported a significant decrease in the old fears and oppositional behavior. Adam became socially more skilled and was better able to make smooth transitions from exciting play dates. This young boy especially enjoyed the time he spent flying a space ship using only his relaxation breathing and his happy thoughts.
